Quantum gravity constraints on fine structure constant from GUP in braneworlds

چکیده
Abstract The Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) has been discussed in the thick braneworld scenario. By considering Rydberg atoms this background, we show that spacetime geometry affects Maxwell equations inducing an effective dielectric constant on space. In its turn, corrected Coulomb potential by gravitational interaction yields a deviation 3-dimensional Bohr radius. Then, compute corrections fine structure owing to GUP higher-dimensional spacetime. We also found constraints for deformation parameter $$\beta $$ β and D -dimensional Planck length $$l_{D}$$ l D comparing predicted deviations with recent empirical data of constant. intermediate scale, which principle may be larger than scale. It is conjectured below such scale Quantum Gravity effects should take place.

VLT / UVES constraints on a varying fine - structure constant
Current analyses of VLT/UVES quasar spectra disagree with the Keck/HIRES evidence for a varying fine-structure constant, α. To investigate this we introduce a simple method for calculating the minimum possible uncertainty on ∆α/α for a given quasar absorber. For many absorbers in Chand et al. (2004) and for the single-absorber constraint of Levshakov et al. (2006) the quoted uncertainties are s...
متن کاملAstronomical constraints on the cosmic evolution of the fine structure constant and possible quantum dimensions.
We present measurements of absorption by the 21 cm hyperfine transition of neutral hydrogen toward radio sources at substantial look-back times. These data are used in combination with observations of rotational transitions of common interstellar molecules to set limits on the evolution of the fine structure constant: alpha/ alpha<3.5x10(-15) yr(-1), to a look-back time of 4.8 Gyr. In the conte...
متن کاملFurther constraints on variation of the fine structure constant from alkali doublet QSO absorption lines
Comparison of quasar absorption line spectra with laboratory spectra provides a precise probe for variability of the fine structure constant, α, over cosmological time-scales. We constrain variation in α in 21 Keck/HIRES Si iv absorption systems using the alkali doublet (AD) method in which changes in α are related to changes in the doublet spacing. The precision obtained with the AD method has...
متن کاملConstraints on time variation of fine structure constant from WMAP-3yr data
This paper presents the constraints on the time variation of the fine structure constant at recombination relative to its present value, ∆α = (αrec − α0)/α0, obtained from the analysis of the WMAP-3yr Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) data, with an additional prior on the Hubble expansion rate from HST Hubble Key Project. I found out that −0.039 < ∆α < 0.010 at 95% C.L., which brings a 30% impr...
متن کاملNew Constraints on Spatial Variations of the Fine Structure Constant from Clusters of Galaxies
We have constrained the spatial variation of the fine structure constant using multi-frequency measurements of the thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect of 618 X-ray selected clusters. Although our results are not competitive with the ones from quasar absorption lines, we improved by a factor 10 and ∼2.5 previous results from Cosmic Microwave Background power spectrum and from galaxy clusters, respe...
